back in the game
i'm gonna lay it out on the table... i've been a sub-par blogger. there. i said it. and now i'm on the path to recovery. so here we go...
after a brief hiatus from our design-build project [recap: forest service big wigs put project on hold pending final-final approval from an engineer (they refused to engineer the project meaning we had to pay private engineer big bucks over several days to get stamp of approval). during this hiatus we took several days off, which i successfully wasted, played pioneer days at our compound house (some guys gutting deer in barn, some of us chopping and stacking firewood, cleaning house, you know, typical pioneer days activities, minus the blacksmith and flour milling), and took a spontaneous field trip in school van to Utah for 2 days to see some rad land-art. mormons are even creepier in person. kidding. kind of. but we are finally back in the game!
this delay means we won't be finished with the project by first week of december as planned, and we'll continue working in 3+ inches of snow and permafrost ground, but we will see the project through! hurrah!i am currently developing pipes of steel as my duties as construction novice include and are mostly limited to shoveling gravel, shoveling dirt, carrying rocks, and shoveling dirt. and more gravel. but i laugh in the face of site supervisors as i'm working up a sweat burning off last night's cheesecake while others lean on shovel and spit sunflower seeds.
on the side i've been shopping online. i've met and befriended a little thing called eBay. it's addicting. and intense. intensely addicting. i've yet to be successful in my bidding but i like to think that's self control. i don't, however, have self control when buying telemark equipment as i've now bought skis and boots in the past week. online. it's magic...
welp, it feels good to send out a message again, whether anyone hears and responds, i may never know...
