Batman and Me

Today Batman and I went to school. The two of us carpooled with my Co-worker and made it to work on time. We then read Revolutionary road together, Batman and I. Batman is very good at fighting crime and giving a helping hand but sometimes I have to sit and wait for Batman to finish reading the page we are on. Afterwards we wrote about our ideas on life and where I should go and what I should do with myself. Batman only has about a month with me before I send him back out to the streets of America to fight crime. Batman thinks we should move through life a little fster, I think we should stop and smell the roses. Batman is allergic to roses and so when I smell roses he is in such close proximity to my olfactory senses he gets angry and begins to itch. Sometimes he gets annoying but his company is very good. Next week Batman and I will give you an update on how we re doing and wheat we think of Obam's recent speech. I'm a little weary but Batman is so stimulated by Obama's package, someone may just get a mustache ride tonight!

Oh Captain! My Captain!

and one hundred other lines to get into a dead presidents pants. In honor of President's Day and this being the bicentennial of Lincoln's birth, why not read
Oh Captain! My Captain! - by Walt Whitman. Nobody is sure to this day if Whitman was referring to Abraham Lincoln or his own penis.

Here are some poems penned by yours truly:

I'm longing for the green things
the seldom ever seen things
which float on eyelids
warily waiting

underneath the microscope
their life is scattered
splattered
look toward the edges
but by all means be coy

the observer often spoils
the experiment
by presence alone
but take heart for they will wait
to push forth in beauty

If I admit the green things
the seldom ever seen things
Will they disappear?

Breathing heavy
stick in hand
playfully snarling like a beast
the muscles contract to explode

no barks, just running
a graceful determined gait
a celebration
of function and form

the weightlessness of repetition
of momentous momentlessness
be mindful of your breath
being here is victory

Band geek lamentations and ground hogs

Today at school we are hosting a state wide band competition. This means that our students have the day off and I am in charge of supervising a room full of orchestra kid's instruments. My teaching license hard at work. So suffice to say I'm bored and blogging. Well done William for carrying the blog of late. I thought I'd recap the weekend for those interested. I went to an international teaching job fair. It was crazy! There were over 600 educators and 200 some schools. All desperately networking, interviewing and schmoozing. I was close to signing contract a couple times but it didn't really pan out with schools I did want. Honestly it was just fun to be there and see what was out there. So half my time was spent at the international level, exotic and fast paced and the other half I was on my aunt's farm in a po'dunk town in Iowa. It was nice and grounding to go from interviewing with a school in Bolivia to walking through corn fields with my mom.
January was a hard month for me. The eternal darkness and cold mixed with my grandmother's death and decisions for the future... It feels good to feel good again and to feel a little more eager to go out and live life. It is ground hogs day after all. A day of new beginnings?? I hope you are all well. I'll give quick up dates on what I've heard from everyone.
The house at 3521 Nicollet: Peter is as chipper as ever and gave up drinking and maybe bathing??? but took up philosophising. Michelle is busy with the rigors of teaching history and having a long distant boyfriend. Which brings me to William, who I've seen a bit lately. He's has been looking at douche bags online and trying to figure out if his sheep is prego. Last I heard Katie was recovering from a drinking sesh with her roomies. What a lush. Mar is on a cruz in S. America. (WTF) Anna and Joe have been incommunicado. I heard Anna my have had whooping cough and I can imagine joe has been ice fishing a lot. Oh i almost forgot walter. He is doing incredibly well and is ridiculously hansom in every sense of the word. That's all I know about yall. You should post either artistically or not and let me know what is up.
